NOW THAT THE HORSES HAVE BOLTED [DOUBLE CD]
August 2008
With his latest double-disc release - Now That The Horses Have Bolted - Simon London offers up recordings of both aspects of his live work; one very rocking disc from his band the Spirits and another disc of intimate solo acoustic tunes.
With Disc One, recorded live in a remote farmers cottage in the southwest, Simon London + the Spirits fire up the amplifiers for a raw and rocking, yet very succinct delivery of London's songwriting prowess.
What the band disc delivers in punch and power, Disc Two offers as breathy respite as it ambles its way through various acoustic stories and reflections - recorded in studios, farms, backrooms and bedrooms as Simon toured solo around Australia.

HIGHWAY STATE OF MIND [CD]
June 2006
The latest release by Simon London + the Spirits, the band's second album is a more rockier affair than their debut. Mixing up some straight-ahead rock songs with some more rootsy ballads, some sparse acoustic tracks with some country-tinged tunes, Highway State Of Mind covers some wider territory and as such shows up the Spirits as a versatile, dynamic band.
While the album shimmers with crunchy guitars and the warmth of hammond and rhodes, it's Simon's vocals that arrest the listener most of all, as he soars, growls, implores and laments with an unprecedented ability and freedom.
Recorded at Blackbird Studio with Dave Parkin, the songs were tracked mostly live in the studio in two hothouse sessions - totalling 22 songs in under 3 days. These were then picked through until the final shortlist of 10 tracks sat together comfortably enough to offer a concise and representative album of the band's workings at the time.

'3' - LIVE IN THE STUDIO [DVD]
September 2005
features an interview and three songs from the Highway State Of Mind album played live in the studio. The audio you hear is completely live - no overdubs - so apart from actually being there, this is as close as you can get to being in the studio when the guys play through their tunes.
the performance of 'Bring It Back Again' here is what was used for the Highway State Of Mind video...it was live audio too, which a few networks snubbed the band for as they wanted the lip-synch kind of video instead.
the band for this recording was Simon London, Tim Keady, Tim Stacey and Clem. Chris Edmondson was over in the Netherlands at the time of filming so he missed out.
the short interview has the band explaining why they like to do their recordings live.

SIMON LONDON + THE SPIRITS [CD]
December 2004
The first recording backed by the Spirits (Tim Keady, Matt Morcombe), many of the 12 songs here were fleshed out and developed during the Clancy's shows. The sound is characterised by earthy tones, an often intimate feel and warm guitars. Produced with Dave Parkin at Blackbird Studios during the summer and winter of 2002. This was one of the first big projects Dave had done in his new studio at the time.
This album was basically recorded in two sessions – about six months apart. Most of it was recorded live in the studio (i.e. all players play their stuff in the same room at the same time) to get a good vibe or feeling in the recording. Simon was more interested in capturing mood more than anything else.
The band was quite at its genesis at the time. Matt (drums) had really come out of quasi-retirement to do the tracking and only after he enjoyed doing the recording did he agree to start doing shows.
Overdubs that were done later were mainly Simon's 2nd electric guitar and vocals, with Derek Parkin (dave’s dad), Dave Parkin and Jules and Suzannah from the Hampdens.

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE - solo acoustic live at Clancy's [CD]
January 2003
This is a live recording of a live set from Clancy's Fish Pub on 26th October 2002.
The Clancy's residency was an institution. After playing there solo for some time (it ended up being 75 weeks in all) and the place and the staff having such a great feel about it all, I figured I wanted to capture some of that essence in a live recording.
The regularity and structure of having a gig every Saturday and having to front up and not bore the staff with the same songs again and again pushed me to try and be as varied as I could. I played stuff at Clancy’s that I’d never take to the band. I wanted to capture some of those tunes.
Dave Parkin came down and recorded 22 songs from the one night. Helped by Laurie McCallum, he bumped it all down to ADAT and then mixed it later. I think the sound of the room and the atmosphere was captured very accurately by Dave. It was always a noisy room and yet he managed to get it sounding pretty clear. We picked out 15 songs to mix and then narrowed it down to 12 for the album.
The photos in the artwork came from April Foxton-Finn. I’d met her and her partner Doug just a few weeks before and struck up a great friendship. April is one of the very best photographers I’ve ever met or worked with as she can capture the essence of a person, room or situation so uncannily. I always think of her work as being so very rich with whatever it attempts to convey. She’d come down and taken a few shots of the place so we were stoked to be able to use them.

GLORIFICATIONS [CD]
August 2000
Released independently in 2000.
Re-released through AllArt Records 2002
Produced by Simon London. Recorded 2000 @ Brockman Avenue (Perth) by Simon London with Dave Parkin and Donna Cole.
Largely a solo release, Simon plays most of the instruments here, with the help of a few various guests including Tim Keady and Dave Parkin. The lush soundscapes and more intricate production here are a departure from the harsh minimalism of Soul-scars and Greenbacks.

SOUL-SCARS AND GREENBACKS [CD]
June 1998
Released through Empire distribution in 1998
Re-released through AllArt Records 2002
Produced by Anthony Lane and Simon London. Recorded 1998/1999 @ On The Bay Studios (Monterey) and Revolver (Perth) by Anthony Lane and Ben Glatzer.
Recorded on the legendary Cannery Row, this stark, minimalist record was Simon's first solo recording. Tracked after Ochre's disbandment and in a somewhat dire environment, this is a bleak study of abandonment and human frailty. Features Matt Morcombe and Chris Edmondson on various tracks.
